Hurricane Wilma briefly became the strongest ever Atlantic storm yesterday as it continued on its path into the Gulf of Mexico. According to the National Hurricane Centre in Miami Wilma was stronger than the September 1935 hurricane that hit the Florida Keys with highest sustained winds of up to 175mph. According to Tropical Storm Risk Wilma is due to loose strength and make landfall on the Florida Keys as a category 3 hurricane at the weekend. It is the 12th hurricane of the season.
