Singapore-based role at QBE Re to be held by former Munich Re and SCOR executive Sven Liu
QBE Re has appointed Sven Liu as head of Greater China, creating a new regional leadership role within its Asia treaty reinsurance business.
Liu (pictured) brings more than 16 years of experience across Asia and Europe, having worked with global reinsurers including Munich Re and SCOR.
He has operated as a multi line underwriter and has held senior leadership roles spanning underwriting, client management and business development across the Greater China region.
In the new role, Liu will be responsible for portfolio management and identifying growth opportunities across Greater China.
He will be based in Singapore and will report to Cindy Foo, head of Asia, treaty.
The appointment follows Foo’s hire in December 2025 and forms part of QBE Re’s efforts to expand its treaty reinsurance presence across Asia.
Cindy Foo said: “We are delighted to welcome Sven to this role as we continue to build out our Asia hub.
“He brings deep experience in Greater China and will play an important role in developing the portfolio across the region,” she added.
