Martyn Rodden has been appointed temporary chief executive of newly rebranded insurer MSIG UK.

He takes the role at the European arm of Japanese parent Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance, effective immediately, subject to regulatory approval.

Rodden was previously director of strategy and transformation at sister company MS Amlin.

He will report into MSI’s managing executive officer in the UK, Hironori Morimoto.

Rodden spent eight years at MS Amlin, in increasingly senior roles, and brings more than two decades of specialty London market experience.

He led the delivery of the firm’s successful Reinsurance To Close deal in 2023, one of the largest deals of its type in Lloyd’s history.

He is a former chief risk officer at Faraday Underwriting, as well as head of risk at Chaucer’s syndicate business.
