Willis Re has appointed Jonathan Ogilvie (pictured, right) as global head of non-marine specialties and Chris Dart (pictured, left of Ogilvie) as head of treaty reinsurance, Bermuda.

Both appointments at the reinsurance broker are effective immediately.

Ogilvie will be based in London, while Dart will be based in Bermuda.

Willis Re said the appointments will support the continued expansion of its reinsurance platform.

The appointments follow news this week that John Fletcher will be Willis Re’s new Bermuda CEO.

In their roles, Ogilvie and Dart will lead their respective teams, manage portfolio performance and work with colleagues and trading partners to strengthen market engagement.

The reinsurance broking firm said they will also focus on enhancing service delivery in their specific markets.

Ogilvie has more than 20 years of experience across the insurance, reinsurance and retrocession markets in London and Bermuda.

He joins Willis Re from Guy Carpenter, where he was head of property retrocession in Bermuda.

Ogilvie previously held management roles within Guy Carpenter’s London operations, working across property, specialty and casualty lines.

Dart joins with 23 years of experience in Bermuda and London.

He specialises in property treaty and retrocession reinsurance solutions for global clients.

Dart was most recently managing director and head of property treaty Bermuda at Guy Carpenter.

Before that, he was a senior broker at John B Collins and Associates in Bermuda.

Lucy Clarke, board member of Willis Re, said: “Jon and Chris are outstanding additions to Willis Re, bringing extensive technical expertise, market knowledge and leadership experience that will be instrumental as we grow our business.

“Their appointments represent an important step in our continued development, enhancing our capabilities, broadening our market reach and positioning us to support clients globally with increasingly sophisticated solutions.”

Ogilvie said Willis Re is building a platform with significant growth potential.

“The combination of specialist sector expertise and advanced capabilities across data, technology and analytics creates a strong proposition for clients across the non-marine specialty market.

“I am delighted to be joining the team at such an exciting stage in its development.”

Dart said: “As treaty reinsurance programs become more complex, clients increasingly require advice that combines technical excellence, market insight and creativity.

“Willis Re’s approach enables brokers to develop bespoke solutions developed exclusively around client objectives.

“It is exciting to be part of a business that places such a strong emphasis on collaboration and delivering the best possible outcomes.”
